If you are like me then you will have lots of remote
controls sitting around all over the place. Well I got
myself a Logitech remote controls to get rid of my AV remote
controls, LCD remote Controls, Freeview remote controls and my
Toshiba remote controls.
I have tried many different types of reprogrammable remote
controls in the past and I must admit that programming my
Logitech remote controls was very easy to do and I also found
it easy to configure multiple applications. I have tried
lots of reprogrammable remote controls in the past as I have
quite an extensive TV / AV system at home and this results in
having several remote controls sitting on my coffee table and
subsequently I lose one occasionally. There is nothing
worse then having to find the remote control just when your
favourite program is just about to start.
My new Logitech remote controls required a pc to set it up
and I loaded the software up and then it starts to ask you for
the make and model numbers of all the devices that you want to
be able to program with your Logitech remote controls.
The library of devices from the software is claimed to be over
200,000 so if your device is not amongst that lot then you must
have a unique one off product! The Logitech remote
controls also have the ability to copy / learn from the
original remote control. Once you have done this you then
get the option to set up different devices and then configure
each one individually to operate with the buttons on your
Logitech remote controls.
I found with my Logitech remote controls that all the main
standard buttons for controlling televisions, AV, set top boxes
are all found together and you also have four soft selectable
keys that have LCD programmable scroll keys which is great so
you don’t have to remember which channel is on which device
setting.
I found the Logitech remote controls to work very well with
my setup and its size is just about right for me with a really
nice glossy finish. The main thing is that it can also be
operated just using one hand and the backlight on the device is
very strong. Main power is via batteries and it takes 4
AAA batteries which if like me you can get rechargeable
batteries which will last you at least 3 months on a full
charge.
I really like the comprehensive library of remotes and the
ease of the software setup for my Logitech remote controls and
I think this with such a low price makes it a great
purchase.
